Brunch: Le Bal Café 75018

Le BalLe Bal is a minimal cafe space, to the right of a small bookstore and gallery, framed by a generous terrace.

The food is quintessentially British with the freshest of French ingredients. Anything from pork pies to lamb neck to the occasional haggis or eccles cake depending on the season. Two courses at lunch will set you back €18.

Anna Trattles and Alice Quillet, formerly of anglo-adored Rose Bakery, change the menu almost daily, focusing on the best of the season.

But the highlight for an anglophone is the weekend brunch comprising everything from scones to bacon and eggs, welsh rarebit, kedgeree, kippers and smoked salmon on toast. The coffee is also great.

Impress fellow hipsters: when the weather affords you can book tables on the terrace.
