A brooding bar serving cocktails sans clichés.
Kitsch without being cute, Lone Palm is self described as a mid-century bar, influenced by the clean lines of American modernism.
References include everything from David Lynch to Palm Springs to Charles Eames, which create an ambiance of intellectual mystery when lighting is at its dimmest.
Or maybe we just drank too many Manhattans.
Lone Palm has some cracking classics on the list; the Zombie, the Brooklyn and even a rum Daiquiri. The Gin Fizz is made with Sloe Gin (Hayman’s) and the Martini with dry sake and ginger. Overall the list is boozy, creative and fresh.
As far as cocktail bars go, you can’t fault Lone Palm.
Excellent drinks made without any pretension, at reasonable prices, with a great vinyl-only soundtrack to get you through the night. Ray Charles was playing last time we sat ourselves at the bar.
Best of all they are open every night of the week, for those wishing to misbehave on a school night.
Impress fellow hipsters: this is the second space for Benoit and Cédric, who also have Le Tiki Lounge not far from Republique.
