Breakfast at Honor Cafe

It’s a proud day for Paris when high quality coffee lands on Rue Saint Honoré.

Alongside a cracking cafe latte (with beans from Cotume) you can take a seat to enjoy granola with poached pears or stop by at lunch for a soup, quiche or a sandwich. When your neighbouring options are more in the style of Le Griffonnier, Honor is a welcome addition.

The sandwiches are ever-rotating in a nod to the seasons. Perhaps a mix of chicken, emmental, tarragon mayo and mesclun, or roast veal, beans, mustard and rocket. There are pastries in the morning and assorted cakes all day long, for those craving their daily sugar hit.

Unsurprisingly there are Anglosaxans involved, two of them in fact, one Australian and one Englishman. They can claim ownership of Paris’ first outdoor coffee spot, housed in a fold up design-box set to withstand the Parisian elements year-round.

In a true defiance of the connotations of their location, they actually seem to like their patrons. Co-founder Angelle Boucher recently remarked to TMagazine that they even designed the space to “connect with our customers” and facilitate knowledge sharing regarding the origin of the beans.

For all of these reasons, if you happen to be stuck around Madeleine or visiting François Hollande, starving or in need of a real coffee, stop by Honor. It’s a belle concept with gentil people who deserve your business.
