California style sushi with sake & shochu and sweet tunes.
Rice & Fish is a duo of Japanese restaurants, one dedicated to the art of the grill, one to the art of maki, both serving inexpensive bento boxes and a range of Japanese beers.
Rice & Fish Yakimono has appeared in the space that once was Rice & Beans, focusing on grilled meats and fish, with rice and pickle as the name perhaps suggests. All fish is à la marché, sold at market prices, selected by the proprietor himself each morning.
Down the road at 16 Rue Greneta, the modern take on maki continues. The sushi bar remains the same with favourites like beef tataki, prawn tempura, spicy tuna and the occasional bonnito draped artistically on various morsels of rice and seaweed.
Both carry a range of sake, shochu, Japanese beers and the occasional glass of Rosé for the Frenchies.
Impress fellow hipsters: Proprietor Andy, an American native, trained in California under Chef Andy Matsuda.
