Places We Actually Go

BoBun Me

BoBun with Beef, Tofu & Spring Rolls

Delectably fresh Vietnamese lunch in a clandestine former covered market.

Boulevard Haussmann. Place Madeleine. A culinary wasteland home to overpriced Macaron coffrets and endless queues of pondering tourists.

Not the ideal place to partake in a quick-and-healthy lunch experience for under €10. Unless you can find your way in (and out of) Galerie marché de la Madeleine.

A stones throw from the insanity that is Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, there is a small cluster of Vietnamese restaurants hidden down a passageway off Rue Tronchet.

There you will find BoBun Me, a ludicrously simple, fresh and inexpensive spot for Bún bò Huế, Bánh mì and (coming-soon) Phở. All for under €10 – and for vegetarians, starting from just €4.50.

Bún bò Huế is standard – vermicelli, pickled carrot, cucumber, mint, fried onions and peanuts. All you have to do is pick and mix your protein.

Impress fellow hipsters: choose from six homemade sauces – original, chilli, peanut, sweet & sour, satay and sweet soy.
